COOL – I’m looking forward to the demos. I may comment, and if I do, you can be sure that I would never post a link, if you have also done so. That would be ignorant of me! That said, I think it’s okay for me to do what I’m about to do. As always, Rachel, this is for you.
Writers block can be a son-of-a-bitch, and there’s no telling what will end it - the seven year itch. The last picture show may be of help. You never know what will trigger a thought or a vision and let the pen begin to flow. You never know. “He was sweeping, you sons of bitches!”
I was surprised, really surprised, to read the inscription on Dorothy Stratton’s headstone. Here it is, almost verbatim.
"If people bring so much courage to this world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry." — Ernest Hemingway (A Farewell to Arms)

DEAD MAN – Neil Young’s darkest work – 1995
I see that you like to work fast and furious and in short bursts, in order to stay focused I suppose, that is my best guess.
Neil Young said he would only do the soundtrack of Dead Man if he could do the entire movie in one take – he likes to work fast as well. Get in – get out. So he surrounded himself with a number of screens, I don’t know how many screens, let’s just say umpteenth and be done with it. I don’t know if he actually did the entire movie in one take, but I’ll accept his word for it.

I wouldn’t expect you to start thinking about your next project while in the midst of your current project. But if you want to stay dark, if you haven’t got that out of your system next time around, I’d like to suggest The Last Picture Show, Dead Man, Blue Velvet and Star 80. Ahh Star 80, how can you go wrong with Bob Fosse? And the other choices are intended to stir the emotions as well.

Ps; Remind me to tell you what I told a friend about Dorothy and Bogdanovich a few weeks ago – February 23, to be exact. It’s strange – to say the least.

It's who you are

Nothing cheesy or cliched in this! This song is going to be a supremely beautiful homage to Almodovar.
