My demo rig has crashed - and in my cinema, the HDMI cable is buggered and ive got no audio on my DVD. so as amusing as it is watching nuns smoking crack pipes with a prostitute with no sound - id better wait. and to top it all, i seem to be wearing a purple jumpsuit and my head feels strange. i admit defeat - for now - and will resume manana.
That's quite the helmet you have on there, Rachel, hilarious, yet partly dangerous and mysterious.
ReplyDeleteMy only suggeston for your technical tragedy, it is unlikely that your HDMI is the problem if you're getting video but no audio. I would check your audio settings on both DVD player and tv, some have a selection between analog and digital audio out. If analog is selected, you will not hear any audio. Good luck with it, for some reason I have an urge for a bowl of frosted flakes now........
No wonder your head feels strange, it looks like someone replaced it with a tiger's head. Was it the ghosts in the machine that did it? I hope they'll give you your real head back by the morning.
ReplyDeleteUrgh, sorry to hear about the technical misfortunes, hope you get them sorted out soon.
goodness - i was so lost in the menu of the amp trying to figure out the audio - its a digital optical - but tried every which way. eek x
ReplyDeleteWell not knowing what model and brand you're using it's hard to steer you in the right direction. But usually it's something simple. Make sure the power is on and lights show up on the amp, volume is set at a low level and the input source is the same name or number that you plugged into with the cable. Play the DVD player, if you don't hear anything, go through the sources on your amp. If you still don't hear anything, confirm that you hear something from your amp, such as a CD player, radio or record player. I hope you figure it out Rachel, sorry I'm not much help.
ReplyDeleteexcorcism in the morning then it is!
ReplyDeleteEek! Everybody run away! I have just realized that Rachel is the reincarnation of the Egyptian god Sekhmet, the Eye of Ra, the destructive Sun Goddess!
ReplyDeleteOk, so Sekhmet has traditionally gone with a lion's head but deities are bound to get bored in thousands of years and need a bit of change. As for the jump suit... well, deities need to follow time too.
Probably more likely to be in the menu of the DVD player I'd think than the Amp itself. If it was me I'd probably try a different type of cable - Scart for instance - and bypass the amp completely. Easier to get it working and you can always figure out how to get the amp going when you're head is back to normal. Failing that I know my DVD player has various options for audio output which can disable the digital output so that's where I'd check. FWIW.
ReplyDeletetotally sorted out the audio - had to go through the most complex sub menu you have ever seen on the amp and re-select the inputs as there had been a power cut at the house and there is an internal reset - how annoying x
ReplyDeleteWhoa, Rach, getting your technology freak on! haha. How sexy is that??? Hot babe talking tech, gotta love that. Can you fix cars too? Can't wait to hear the new stuff!
ReplyDeleteglad you got the audio sorted out.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was looking in the mirror. Love the purple outfit. :)
