Also, the tone of the guitar (the notes I do not know!) sounds Spanish. I definitely promote nixing any intonations of voice, such as 'so'; as when I remove the first one, I do love how strong and immediate the lyrics now read.

must get back to work!

thank you!ginabhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05885737646572900998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2238732840327435379.post-63045219262907636402011-02-28T07:05:17.173-08:002011-02-28T07:05:17.173-08:00Right, and obviously I got my answer regarding the...Right, and obviously I got my answer regarding the Spanish dialogue from the video.

And, adding about Catholicism: sin, sinners, devil and deadly lust are also mentioned in the lyrics, so I guess your take may be that the mother is indeed religious - or having been brought up in a Catholic culture, such words come naturally to her.

But then, I can't even begin to imagine how a mother feels when something like this has happened to her daughter. See did not see or admit it, and may well feel that she deserves the purgatory, the cleansing with pain and fire before she can be salvaged.

Sorry about going on about this...E.L. It really gives an in-depth into the songwriting process.

I'm impressed about the way you've transferred the story from between two mediums here and that you decided to approach it from the mother's perspective, her words to Raimunda, excepting for the Spanish dialogue between the two - I guess that's directly from the film? I don't speak Spanish and watch with Finnish subtitles.

Regarding the line "Ev’ry day I live In purgatory/endless guilt": English isn't my native language, but my feeling is that of the two alternatives you have here, 'purgatory' has more of a Catholic religious tone, whereas 'endless guilt' doesn't. Of course, Spain is a Catholic country, and I hear Catholicism is so much in the culture that it may well be naturally in the language people use irrespectively of whether the person is religious or not. I never thought whether the characters in the film are religious or not, actually. Hm...E.L. Wistyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14860090661048142298noreply@blogger.com
